The C242UNVSE model ballast is perfect for use both indoors and outdoors while supplying illumination for fixtures with wattage ranging from 20- 42. It has an utterly simple bare-bones design gets those CFL fixtures burning bright again without hassle. It only works with dual 120/277-volt alternating currents, which is perfect for most industrial complexes and warehouses in North America. Its patented core-and-coil design has been trusted by the lighting industry since the 1930s and it can be used with most PLC and IR building control systems for increased energy efficiency.

Application
If you know any lighting geeks, they'll tell you that magnetic ballasts are dinosaurs. But hey, why buy a more expensive electronic ballast if you're just replacing a few worn out fixtures? Your coworkers aren't going to notice the difference, and any inspector will be quickly pacified by the UL and CSA listings clearly stamped on the front.
This electromagnetic fluorescent CFL ballast is also rated for light hazardous locations, where explosive dust or vapors are present in the air. It is also designed for environments that tend to stay around 60° F and has a tremendous temperature ceiling of nearly 200°!
External Specifications
To meet the demands of ULs Class P rating, the C242UNVSE is housed in a black metal case which protects the inside coils from damp weather. The ballast is completely free of lead or PCBs so it is not harmful to humans and does not require special disposal. Two mounting feet on either end of the case can be used to connect the unit to a fixture or to an adjacent support beam for remote use.
Electrical Specifications
This 42-watt CFL Universal ballast can be tied into your buildings Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system which monitors the output and regulates several ballasts at once. The C242UNVSE uses a "Rapid" start method which heats the lamp electrodes before the inrush of voltage is supplied. Bulbs will start with a brief delay, but without the annoying flash of "Preheat" start types and an extended lamp life over "Instant" start types.
